1. FALL FUNDRAISER TUESDAY, OCT. 10, MARY'S PIZZA SHACK ON SUMMERFIELD RD.
PSGSC will get 15% of Dine-in, Take-out, and Delivery orders ALL day on TUES., OCT. 10. Attached below is the flyer/coupon that you MUST present with your meal. Start planning a fun lunch/dinner/pizza delivery/etc. with family and friends. Anyone who wants to eat together for lunch at noon on TUES. OCT 10, (ONLY Mary's on Summerfield Rd.), we have reserved the back room. Please make more copies of the coupon to give to family and friends!!
2. The PSGSC Board of Directors is planning to bring the ParkinsonWISE Training to Sonoma County on Saturday, Oct. 28. This is a program that trains fitness and wellness professionals in Parkinson's disease. These professionals will learn basic Parkinson information such as freezing, balance, soft speech, etc. Dr. Khandhar, Movement Disorder Specialist at Kaiser, Sacramento, has created a professional video which will be presented by a physical therapist trained to provide this education. By completing this 1 1/2 hour training, practitioners will receive certification and will be better able to provide knowledgeable services to our PD community. They will also be listed on our web site. Flyers will be available at our October 7 meeting for you to give to your personal trainers, instructors for yoga, tai chi, dance, cycling, boxing programs, providers of massage, music, voice, personnel working in Care Facilities, medical personnel, or anyone you might think of dealing with People With Parkinson's.
3. THREE SCHOLARSHIP OFFERINGS: One of the purposes of PSGSC is to promote activities which benefit the Parkinson's Community. We are particularly committed to advocating for the wellness of People with Parkinson's (PWP). The PSGSC Board has decided to extend our support to LSVT-LOUD, a speech therapy program, PARKINSON'S VOICE THERAPY (a program created by the Swain Center), and LSVT-BIG, a movement therapy program. ALL are designed for PWP given by trained and certified professionals. PSGSC has set aside limited tuition scholarship funding. Flyers will be available on the table at each meeting that explains the commitment involved in each program. Please let us know if you are interested and we can get the process started for you.

Our Parkinson's Support Group of Sonoma County is sponsoring a creative movement class modeled on
the Dance for PD program developed by the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group.

6. Don't forget to check our LIBRARY for new books/materials/clinical trials info/DVD's of past speakers/etc. If you have any books checked out, please return them when you are finished.
7. The DONATION JAR sent around at our general meetings helps PSGSC pay for the monthly meeting rental, storage space and mailing address at the church, plus speaker stipends, copying of materials, dance/singing classes, scholarships, etc. We have NO dues or membership fees. Thanks for your monthly donations!
