The Minutes of the August 19, Board meeting were approved with the following corrections: Under Data Base, of the 11 new attendees, 6 were patients and 5 were care givers. Under Digital Support Group: The correct website for the newly established digital support group is:
Sandy reported that on the income side we collected $337.77 at the August meeting in the Donation Jar, earned $.65 in interest and sold two PD Pins for a profit of $11.04. Expenses were $50.00 for meeting setup and takedown, $18.48 for meeting supplies and we paid $250.00 for facilities rental for the months of August and October.
The Dance class collected $479.00 from participants for the August classes and paid $300.00 to the instructors and $136.00 for the dance hall rental. In total we took in $43.00 more than we paid out. Total net income for August was $73.98 with a cumulative total through the end of August of $3,045.04.
Art verified that all financial statements matched bank statements.
Betty Greenway, Kathy’s mother, made a donation of $1000.
Nancy has confirmed the additional Dance class date of November 19 and December 17. There were 24 attendees at the last class.
The class continues with great enthusiasm and attendance remains steady at 10 or 11.
Marie Kay has made a calendar of the Singing and Dance class dates through December 17.
November Sharing Meeting:
Sandy and Kathy, who are organizing the meeting, have had good response from members to share hobbies and projects. Tables will be set up for members to display their items. People will be able to walk around to see the various tables and talk to the displaying members about their work. There will be a table with items that make life easier for PWP. Raffle tickets will be sold at $1 each or 6 for $5. Raffle items will be donated by the individual members who display.
There will be no Library table that day though there will be brochures for the Dance and Singing class as well as coupons for the Mary’s Pizza Fundraiser on the table at the entrance. The break out groups will meet as usual in the second hour.
December Holiday Party:
Jaimie Blumenthal, our singing instructor, will lead a Holiday themed sing-along. The Singing group might preform but that has not yet been decided.
John and Ed, assisted by Suzanne, will be facilitators for the October meeting.
Care Givers Group:
They continue to meet on the second Tuesday of the month. A second meeting will be decided at each regular meeting.
Kathy heard back from the Church that they would rather not lend their headset microphone but by then we had decided to buy our own. John has done some research and thinks that a good one for our audio set up will cost about $200. Sandy made a motion to authorize John to spend up to $250 for a new headset microphone. Gloria seconded the motion which was passed on a voice vote.
Everyone should take the new brochures to replace or replenish those they have previously placed as well as taking them to new places.
After the article in the Press Democrat about the Tour de Fox featuring the Tigners, Kathy wrote a letter to the editor praising the article and giving information about PSGSC. The Press Democrat did not publish the letter.
Finding a Movement Disorder Specialist:
Suzanne said that she spoke with Dr Larson about this at her last appointment. He said a survey was essential because a Dr. would not come without an adequate patient base. Sandy and Gloria are in the process of gathering that information so that we are better informed about real numbers. Dr. Larson said we should include surrounding counties as well.
This is scheduled for October 7. In addition to the email already sent another email will go out and the coupon will be available on the website as well as at the October meeting.
Kathy will look into reserving the back room for those who want to come for lunch as a group.
The North Bay Stage Company sent 24 tickets for their play, “Leading Ladies.” The tickets have a face value of $26 but we will sell them to members for $15 each. The tickets are for performances over three week ends: October 2-4. October 9-11 and October 16-18. The Friday and Saturday performance time is 8 p.m. The Sunday performance is 2 p.m.
This is the third set of tickets North Bay Stage Company has donated this year and it has been a good fundraiser as well as a nice social event for participating members.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m. by Chair, Kathy Osbun. The next Board meeting will be Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at the Brush Creek Senior Living.
