The minutes were approved with the following paragraph which will replace the paragraph under Clinical Trials:
Marc has been trying to obtain greater accuracy and updating in the listing of clinical trials by the Fox Trial Finder. This is challenging because the FTF relies on information provided by trial coordinators at various institutions, and it turns out that no one person at any institution is even aware of all the trials going on in their own institution. Furthermore, web sites are hopelessly outdated. So, of the 19 trials listed by the FTF as active in the Bay Area, 6 of them are currently actively recruiting. In addition, there are 6 other trials that Marc identified that should be listed. This is a nationwide problem, and Marc is working with the FTF team to work on systemic corrections.
Income for the month included: $183 from Donation Jar, .55 interest, and special events income of $494.76 for a total of $678.31 total income for the month.
Expenses included: $100 for meeting set up - take down, $125 for facilities rental for a total of $225.
Both Singing and Dance Classes continue to have an excess of accumulated donations over expenses.
John moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report, Ed seconded the motion which was passed on a voice vote.
Art verified that the statements match bank balances.
Don Winkle, our attorney, reviewed the PANC agreement and added a paragraph. Kathy signed the revised agreement and returned it to PANC. It will formalize our relationship with them and will be made part of the minutes when we receive it back from PANC.
Dancing Class: The six month trial period is nearly up and Nancy provided an overview. The 22nd May class income was $149 and the 14 June income was $92. The number of attendees is also a bit lower. Tori, the instructor, felt this was pretty common and this group is still far ahead of her San Rafael group at the same point. Tori felt the turning point for their group was having an article in the Marin Journal so Nancy is going to put more effort into getting some wider publicity.
The general discussion was enthusiastic for renewing the class for another six months. Suzanne made the motion to continue the class for six months and Gloria seconded the motion which was passed by voice vote.
Singing Group: Kathy reported that attendance is steady with 10 at the last class which is about maximum for the present venue. The Board felt that this too is worth continuing for another six months. Sandy made the motion to extend our support of the Singing Group for six more months and Suzanne seconded the motion which was passed on a voice vote.
There is some concern that people can get confused about dates for classes, even though emails are sent out in the week prior to the classes. Marie Kay volunteered to make a calendar for the next six months which will give the dates, times and places for the classes. This will allow members to have these dates already on their calendars so they can more easily plan around them.
Outside Caregivers Group:
Marie Kay said that they continue with a slightly larger group and is working well.
Kathy talked with the printer and is very happy with the plans. They will print and fold 500 brochures for less than $400. They should be available at the next Board meeting.
Gloria said that there were 62 at the May General meeting and 3 were new.
The Johnny Garlic’s fundraiser brought in $156.75
The meeting was adjourned at 10:40 a.m. by Chair, Kathy Osbun. The next meeting will be July 15, 2015, at the Brush Creek Senior Living at Brush Creek.
The Board then turned to a strategic planning session led by Kathy Osbun which continued until 12:15 p.m.
